Life & Ministry
I was born in California, spent many of my early years in Connecticut, but later moved to Florida at the age of 9. I grew up in a very dysfunctional family, and throughout my teen years, I was completely enslaved to drugs and alcohol. My life continually spiraled downward and completely out of control. On a night that began like many others, with plans to indulge in every craving and sinful lust, I ran into an unforeseen head on collision with God. That night, God took complete hold of my life as I surrendered to Christ. I was instantly a new creation; my old life was gone and all things became new.
I immediately began sharing with anyone I could about the change God had made in my life. I began reading the Bible for hours, day and night; I couldn’t put it down. I continued to grow through prayer and scripture. Walking in the presence of God’s spirit became as natural as breathing. I wanted to serve the church in any way that I could, and spent time working with children, and youth and evangelism. All along, God was working and preparing me for full-time ministry. I received God’s call only months after I was saved, and served as a full time Christian minister for 9 years. At that point, God transitioned me to church planting, which is where I served for the next 27 years. During this time, God used me to establish 3 churches in 2 different states, now including Reformation Baptist Church. I am so thankful for every life that God has allowed me to be a part of throughout my ministry, and I look forward to continuing to serve God through my time at RBC.
During my earlier years of ministry, a young lady named Debbie began attending a college and career ministry that I was leading. Later that year, God regenerated Debbie’s heart, and I was able to baptize her. I began to watch her grow in her walk with the Lord, but little did I know that she would later become my wife. In the subsequent weeks, we developed a friendship that later turned to love. We were married the following year on May 10th, 1986. Debbie and I have been blessed with 3 children Luke (married to Maria); Ryan (married to Julie) and Jacob who is in his second year of college at AUM. We also have 4 beautiful grandchildren: Paisley, Bailey, Riley and RJ.
Vision For RBC
I am so excited about what God has done in the short time that we have been together as Reformation Baptist Church and for what He continues to do! At RBC, we exist for the glory of God. Our vision and focus are to keep God central in our individual lives, our family lives, and our church life as we pursue God in holiness. As the body of Christ, we will worship together, focus on church-wide discipleship, witness in the world, and practice healthy church life. We believe that if we stay true to these foundational and Biblical truths, God will direct our paths in the direction he desires us to go.
