Bible Story: Gideon

Bible Reading: Judges 6-7:25

Bible Point: Jesus is the Better Gideon

Questions to ask:

-How does this scripture point us to the gospel? 

-Why was Gideon scared to go to battle? 

-How is Jesus better than Gideon?

Parents, this week we talked about Gideon and how God used him to rescue Israel from the hands of the Midianites. Gideon was scared. Gideon doubted God’s sovereignty but Gideon didn’t run away because of his fear, he asked God to prove His faithfulness. This is a great opportunity to talk to your kids about a time when you were scared to do what God called you to. Tell them your response to God’s will. How did it end? What did you learn? Reiterate to your kids that God was faithful to you just like He was to Gideon and just like He will be to them. Pray for your kids that God would increase their faith and decrease their fear. Point your kids to the gospel by reminding them that Jesus is better than Gideon because Jesus obeyed God without question. Jesus had faith in God’s plan and submitted Himself to the will of God.
