Bible Story: John the Baptist

Bible Point: Jesus is Better than John the Baptist

Questions to ask:

-How does this scripture point us to the gospel? 

-How did John the Baptist prepare the Jews for the coming of Jesus? 

-How is Jesus better than John the Baptist?

Moms, can you imagine your babies jumping in the womb at the presence of Jesus? Dads, can you imagine raising strong men who will share the good news of Jesus without hesitation? What a blessing John the Baptist must’ve been to Elizabeth and Zechariah- though I’m sure they too had moments where they rubbed their faces in exasperation at the shenanigans of their boy. It is my prayer that we raise kids who like John the Baptist, are unapologetic as they speak the truth of the Word, yet are earnestly humble that their own deeds don’t even qualify them to tie the laces of our Savior’s shoes. God used John’s ministry to prepare the way of the Lord but even his dedication in his ministry could not save him; God blessed him with an unwavering faith in the salvation of Jesus and the very moment that the sword separated his head from his body, John’s faith was made sight. Jesus is the redeemer that John preached. Jesus is the better John.
